Victoria Cross
The Victoria Cross, depicted in all its majesty on this painting, is the highest British decoration possible for soldiers. Only fifteen were awarded between 1939-1945, five of which went to paratroopers who fought to liberate the Netherlands in the Battle of Arnhem.
