Unknown English Soldier
There is something special about this field grave made for a fallen, unknown English soldier: it was dug by a German soldier. This person wrote the text on the cross and placed the helmet of his slain adversary on top of it. How did this come to pass? It might be a sign of the surprising emotional connection shared on the battlefield by opposing combatants.
